Crossroads Pastoral Charge
Maryfield & Wawota, Saskatchewan
MINISTER'S MESSAGE
Winter has arrived and with it treacherous road conditions dominated by ice and snow. For those who don't need to brave the outdoors, a blanket of fresh show can be enjoyed from the comfort and warmth of inside spaces. Especially at Christmas time, those take on a festive appearance with a decorated tree, snowmen, Santa figures and perhaps a nativity scene.
While many get caught up in the secular commercialism of the season, we need to keep our thoughts on the reason for the celebration - the birth of Jesus Christ, Immanuel ("God with us"). In the humblest of beginnings (laid in a manger - a feeding trough for animals), and attended by the lowest class of people (shepherds), our savior and friend identifies with all people. Let's be drawn to the beacon of light that came into the world so long ago and is still present through the Holy Spirit to guide and lead us in our daily lives.
